  Note the pollen which coats the rear legs. Honeybees pack the pollen into rounded pellets. Digger bees use most the the length of their rear legs.

   These short tongued bees favor flowers of the rose family, which includes many of our most important fruits, such as apples, pears, peaches, cherries, strawberries and blackberries, as well as ornamentals such as Bradford pear and the red tips shown here.
