Swarm Slide Show #5

Nasinov Glands
Well, it doesn't matter that I didn't spot the queen. These two workers in the center have already spotted this beautiful new home, and are calling the others. How do they call? Note that their abdomens are stuck up, and a little white gland is exposed. This Nasinov gland gives off a "come-hither" odor, and the fanning wings pass this odor back to the others, who promptly start marching in. In an hour they are all settled in their new home, happy as clams.
